This is a difficult subject to discuss, but for the new player it is essential that they can benchmark their horse and the horses training time.
The last thing I want to encourage, are stables NOT to run their horses.
I can't state the following strongly enough.
Horses doing the following training times have the ability to place in a race.
Obviously, if they do much better times, then there is even more potential.
The times listed relate to yearling horses only.
If your horse has a low maturity percentage, again, even more potential.
Without doubt, there will be horses outside these benchmarks that will prove these numbers wrong.
The page shown above displays.
You now need to select the filters
For current yearlings, select the latest/the most recent season
(19 in the image shown)
Select "1" in the age options.
Of
course selecting "2" in the age options, the tables will change/update
and will show you the times for the current season (current season
being season 19) for 2YO horses.
If we now drill down a bit further and zoom in on the numbers for
1200 for example. Here we see, the top number (553), the total number of training
times, over 1200M done so far.
Check back tomorrow and this number
may have increased. Therfore, the more numbers, the more accurate
the stats. The later in the season , these numbers will be highest and
stats the most accurate.
If you horse does a training time of
1.15.45 or better, then currently it is within the top 5% of all horses
for the season (so far) over the 1200M distance.
It could be the best,
it could be number 1, you wouldn't know that though, you just know, its top 5%. Remember
this though, these 553 runs are over all 4 surfaces, and you horse may
in fact be the best on a particular surface.
